Green & Healthy Living is a Part of the Educational Experience

Educators can play a very important role in getting a handle on the Health and Obesity crisis.
When children are well-rested, well-nourished, and physically fit, they are more ready to learn. From an early age, children recognize healthy habits and understand why they are important.

Fleet Feet Super Sprint Triathalon to Support the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society CSS PhilanthropyAnyone who knows Schoodoodle President and CEO Mike Ockrim knows that he is committed to inspiring others to lead healthy balanced lifestyles.  When children are well-rested, well-nourished, and physically fit, they are more ready to learn. From an early age, children recognize healthy habits and understand why they are important.  Educators can play a very important role in getting a handle on the health and obesity crisis.

Mike himself is an avid biker, hiker, swimmer and runner.  In the past year,  he has used his athleticism to raise funds for charity by participating in events such as the Fleet Feet Super Sprint Triathalon to Support the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society and the Muddy Buddy Ride and Run Race to Support Challenged Athletes Foundation.  And most recently, Mike and his brother were featured on the Eat Clean Diet Website, a healthy approach to nutrition where lean proteins, complex carbs, and healthy fats are the primary ingredients.  See their video at the bottom of this post!

Mik’s passion for good health is demonstrated in this month’s Featured Teaching Safari:  Fitness University- a special program designed to teach students (and grown ups) to the benefits of living a healthy and active lifestyle.  Some of the classes include:  Jazz and Hip Hop Dance Classes where kids learn through to be healthy by movement and expression; and Tumbling Classes, a program that promotes health and physical education in order to develop a sound mind in a sound body.

Other Healthy Teaching Safaris to consider: Health Education a program that teaches a balanced and healthy lifestyle to students in Grade 1 and up through High School; and Green is Good, an Environment and Gardening Teaching Safari where students learn the healthful and relaxing benefits of cultivating their own garden.
