# multiplication fun

Johnny had a math test at school today. It was on multiplication of 9. Johnny looked at the test:
1 x 9 =
Ohhh thats an easy one, the answer is 9
2 x 9 =
3 x 9 =
4 x 9 =
5 x 9 =
6 x 9 =
7 x 9 =
8 x 9 =
9 x 9 =
Johnny didn't know the answers to any of the other questions on his test so he decided to figure out how many he had gotten wrong.

2 x 9 = 1
3 x 9 = 2
4 x 9 = 3
5 x 9 = 4
6 x 9 = 5
7 x 9 = 6
8 x 9 = 7
9 x 9 = 8

Oh boy, Johnny could not believe that he had not been able to answer that many questions so he decided to check his addition from the bottom up so his paper looked like this:

1 x 9 = 9
2 x 9 = 18
3 x 9 = 27
4 x 9 = 36
5 x 9 = 45
6 x 9 = 54
7 x 9 = 63
8 x 9 = 72
9 x 9 = 81

Imagine his suprise when he got an A on the test!!!!!

Honestly, we don't get it, but that does not mean it isn't a good strategy...there are a lot of great ideas we do not always understand! Johnny's mom also could have bought our Multiplication Flash Cards or our top-selling Multiplication Rap VHS to help him practice his time tables. Thanks for the idea!
