One of the reasons October was created was to aid teachers of the lower elementary grades in their efforts to teach a unit using the themes of Halloween. A child's book emphasizing Halloween, with poems, customs, stories, and pages for creative writing, is contained herein. There is also an essay about Columbus Day which we celebrate on October 12. A series of worksheets have been developed for use in learning centers. They emphasize vocabulary and the making of compound words, inference, and creative writing.
