Free Parent Involvement Activity - "Alternate and Replicate" - Ages 3-5
Visual Discrimination, Problem Solving, Small Motor Skills - Ages 3 to 5
Line up a group of plastic building blocks in an alternating pattern of colors in front of your child (for example, red-blue-red-blue). Invite your child to replicate this pattern with her own group of blocks.
Increase the complexity of the pattern as her skill grows (red-red-blue-red-red-blue) and/or incorporate stacking patterns (a single stack -- red-yellow-red; or multiple stacks - two-high, one-high, two-high, etc.)
Enjoy!
